Review: Synthetic Sensations Vang Knotted Dildo

Vang from Synthetic Sensations reimagines the classic canine-inspired knot dildo with the knot stuck inside of the sheath. With a tapered tip and dramatically thick knot, Vang highlights the traits that many people love while standing out as a unique design.

Design & Specs

Synthetic Sensations is a UK-based brand with a small but creative lineup of models including Ryvian, a penetrable that includes a moveable internal cock (a concept that I am extremely into), and Alyx, a grinder or open-faced penetrable.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a fan of werewolves, and Vang easily ticks my boxes for furry fantasy. I’m really into the idea of a partner being so excited that their knot can’t even get out from the sheath.

In medium size, Vang’s shaft above the knot reaches 1.9″ diameter/6″ circumference, while the knot itself is a whopping 2.6″ diameter/8.2″ circumference. It has a usable length of 7.1″. The size is similar to TTC Dante, whose knot I also enjoy.

My Vang is in one in Synthetic Sensations’ limited Jorkobs colorway, one of their Borderlands-inspired “Pandonga” pours. It’s a marbled vertical split of white and black with beautiful shimmering gold in between and rusty red splatter on the balls.

The splatter is done in a pretty unique way. I suspect it actually was splattered into the mold before the other colors were poured. I’ve rubbed and picked at the red parts to check for durability and it has not peeled off at all, so whatever method was used for the effect, it was done well.

I requested medium Vang in medium firmness 00-50, but received one in very soft firmness 00-30 instead. While I enjoy the dildo in some ways, it is too soft for me in other ways. More on that in the in-use section below. (This dildo was sent to me for review and was not custom-made, so I don’t expect this kind of mix-up for standard orders; I believe the 00-30 was intentionally selected for me to review.)

It’s squishier in hand than I’m used to 00-30 feeling like. I would describe it as almost marshmallowy and closer to 00-25, but without any of the tackiness of a firmness as soft as 00-20 (what many shops call super soft). The exact firmness of silicone can vary based on a number of conditions, including pigments and environmental conditions. I have toys that felt firmer than expected, so this wouldn’t be my first toy with a variation in firmness, though it’s a little outside of the standard level of variation that I’m used to.

I received Vang and a small Carmine in exchange for review. I also received two plain black cotton drawstring bags. The standard-size bag is 11.5″ long (including drawstring seam) and 10″ across, and can fit toys up to 10″ in length. Both of these dildos can easily fit inside one bag. The bags don’t shed a ton of lint, but as with most cotton bags, I would recommend washing them before storing toys inside of them.

The listing for my Vang was £75 in inventory (dropped to £70 for a sale). At time of writing, £75 would be about $98. Medium-size Vangs in inventory range from £55-80 and customs start at £65.

In Use (Vaginal)

The textured fur is strong. As a high-frequency texture (lots of small details), it is constant and almost noise-like rather than well-defined. It’s much more intense than I expected in this firmness and I’m very pleased with that.

The texture is great when moving the dildo in and out, but due to the very soft firmness, the shaft above the knot mostly feels like squishy softness with texture on top. I don’t feel much pressure at all past my entrance, and if I’m not moving, it almost feels like the top part doesn’t really exist, especially the tip. The filling sensation that I love is absent. This is normal for me, however; I straight up can’t feel pressure sometimes from dildos softer than A00/00-40 unless they’re very big or I’m using them anally.

The knot itself, on the other hand, is very manageable in this very soft firmness. I just need lots of lube and a push to get it inside. That part is thick enough for me to feel some pressure (including G-spot pressure) and a good stretch without feeling uncomfortable even though it pushes my comfortable limits. Riding up and down on the knot itself—and popping it in and out—is really nice and makes me feel filled despite the softness. A firmer knot at this size might make me feel bruised, but I only felt a little sore after going at it pretty aggressively with Vang (which I expected from a knot this thick).

The knot is a dramatic size increase and only squishes down a certain amount, so it takes a push for me to insert. The 2.6″ diameter is something that I know I can handle, but it’s within the size range of many large size dildos, so could be a challenge for those who usually opt for medium size dildos.

Medium Vang is a little too long for me to take fully, so I can’t say how well the knot locks. The tip is not very pokey in this firmness, so it only rarely causes discomfort from bumping my cervix. I don’t get any A-spot stimulation due to the smaller size and softness of the head.

Visually, the base is nice. In use, it’s very difficult to hold. The thinner section between the shaft and the balls prevents the balls from offering much leverage to the shaft, and there is no good spot to hold the base at the bottom of the shaft. For thrusting, I end up wrapping my hand around the portion of the base beneath the shaft, which is awkward positioning and very inefficient given that lube is naturally going to end up on that part of the base. Holding the balls for thrusting is more or less useless. Handles aren’t very easy to use with knotted toys due to the additional resistance going in and out. A double-sided suction cup might hold down the dildo, but I find it can be difficult to find a proper location to use those. I can’t really tie it down because an O-ring would slip off the smaller side of the base.

In Use (Oral)

Vang’s tip seemed like a great size for oral, so I gave it a go, and I was right. I can just fit the portion above the sheath in my mouth, which is large enough to push my comfortable limits and make it a bit of a challenge. The marshmallowy softness is nice and squishy, though it doesn’t have as much stiffness and presence as a firmer dildo. (In hindsight, no wonder I like blowing Vang; I enjoyed The Canine from Weredog, and Vang’s shape is similar without the risk of the shaft getting dislodged.)

Overall

Vang from Synthetic Sensations is visually fantastic and fun in use, but suffers from a less-than-ideal base. It has strong fur texture on the shaft and a hefty knot for a great stretch, plus an upper shaft that is easy and pleasing to suck on. It’s well sculpted and offers a unique furry fantasy. However, the base is difficult to hold and tie down, making it inconvenient to use.

Due to the intensity of the texture and knot, I suspect many people would enjoy Vang on the softer side. Synthetic Sensations offers toys as soft as 00-15, a firmness that very few brands offer. But for those like me who can’t always feel dildos on the softer side, I would suggest sticking to your usual firmness unless you want to make the knot easier to use.
