The Slipskin series is b-Vibe‘s take on realistic dual-density dildos. It has a velvety, skin-like finish with a plush outer layer and sturdy inner core, with a decently lifelike appearance. I didn’t expect to enjoy a mainstream dildo this much, but this one became an instant fave.

About b-Vibe
b-Vibe is one of the companies under COTR Brands, alongside Ride The Cowgirl and Le Wand. These brands’ products are available through both their own websites and retailers, made of quality materials, and some designs are innovative (like b-Vibe’s Rimming Plug). b-Vibe specializes in toys designed for anal play.
While I trust the quality of the materials these brands use for their own products, I’m not entirely on board with their ethics—particularly Le Wand—and they carry products from other brands that are made of sub-par materials like PVC (which is porous and can harbor bacteria).
I’ve been favoring dildos with a humanoid shape lately, and quality human dildos that look and feel realistic are not that easy to find at affordable prices. With Slipskin dildos being widely available and at a competitive price when on sale, I wanted to see if they were worth the cost or if they would be a disappointing gimmick.
Design & Specs
b-Vibe’s Slipskin dildos are dual-density, featuring a soft, moveable outer layer, a firm inner core with limited flexibility, and balls with firm orbs inside of them. The line includes the Curvy, which is slimmer and features a notable curve, and the Girthy, which is thicker with a minimal curve. The larger sizes (8″ and 9″ Girthy, and 9″ and 10″ Curvy) include a Vac-U-Lock hole and an insert to fill the hole.
The outer layer is very soft and squishy, which I suspect is firmness 00-20 (which many indie brands consider “super soft”). Like most toys in firmness 00-20, it’s a little tacky to the touch and can be a lint magnet.
My Slipskin Girthy is in the Mocha coloration, a warm mid-to-light brown color that looks a fair bit livelier than the Cream option on the product listings. It looks more orange on the website than in person. The head is subtly tinted red and the veins are blueish. The color for the veins seems to be a blue-green color painted beneath the outermost layer of silicone, which ends up with the color concentrating around the edges of the veins. The visual effect isn’t perfect, but it should be safe (unlike airbrushing onto the outside, which could someday flake off).
The sculpted texture along with the painted colors make it look pretty damn realistic if I’m not looking too closely, and it’s easy to imagine it being attached to a real human. I’m impressed that just painting the head and veins works so well to give that effect without having to go all out. However, I would have liked for the coloring to be a little stronger on the head and veins to match the level of contrast in the product photos.
While Mocha and Cream are the only two currently available color options, there are plans to expand the color range, including darker colors, in mid-to-late 2025, according to the representative I emailed.
The Slipskin Girthy 8″ has a total length of 8″ (7″ usable) and a maximum girth of 6.7″ circumference/2.3×2″ diameter. (The website lists a max circumference of 7.17″, but I cannot find a part where it’s that thick on my particular copy.) As far as mainstream dildos go, this is pretty big, though it’s perfectly within my preferred specs.
The dildo was packaged inside a large product box. In addition to the dildo itself, I received a sticker, a storage bag, and two lubes for review in this same article. The bag material is a little bit noisy/stiff, but easy to clean and does not shed lint.
This size retails for $175, but can be purchased for 25% off ($131.25) using code FROST25 on b-Vibe’s Website. (This code does not stack with other promotions.)
In Use
Vaginal Use
Slipskin Girthy became my favorite dildo for two weeks straight. I got my mind blown by the dual density and kept going back for the realistic feel of it. Now that the “honeymoon phase” has passed and it’s no longer a complete novelty, I still find myself craving it for a realistic fantasy.
As far as comparisons to real penises go, I can’t make one since I’ve got no experience there. As for fantasies? This feels so much more realistic and so much like I imagine a flesh-and-blood cock should feel.
The firm core ensures I get that filling sensation and pressure that I love while the outer skin is plush and squishy like skin. The matte finish paired with the sculpted skin texture is ridiculously good. It has the right amount of drag internally without any of the roughness thanks to how soft it is, and at certain angles, the external portion rubs against my clit with enough friction to really get me going. There’s a lot of sculpted skin texture, but unlike firmer silicone toys, it isn’t rough or intense; it contributes to the velvety feeling.
There’s something to be said about a company picking the right firmness for both the core and outer layer. I have another dual density dildo that doesn’t hit the spot nearly as nicely as this one does in part due to the firmness. b-Vibe nailed it with this one.
Size-wise, the length fits me perfectly and I can even get some A-spot stim although the head is squishy. While I was expecting a girthy stretch due to the specs and I definitely feel filled, I don’t feel stretched. This may be due to the squishy outer layer squishing down significantly in addition to the actual measurements being a little slimmer than advertised.
The squishiness of the skin can be a little uncanny. When pushing inside, if I’m not warmed up or I’m otherwise tense/tight, the skin bunches up closer to the base as it’s displaced. A little bit of bunching is neat, but a lot gets kind of weird. Aside from that, I like the sliding skin and I find that it adds a little more depth to the experience.
The shape is decent, but not its strongest feature. The underside is subtly curved, giving some of that G-spot pressure that I love from a nice curve, but a little too gentle for my tastes. The top side is pretty straight, making it somewhat rod-like. Without a significant curve or much texture to speak of, the top side isn’t particularly interesting. There’s not much I can say about the head, either, given how soft it is. I love the skin-like texture, but that’s about it.
Slipskin Girthy is well suited for intense sessions without being overwhelming. It’s pretty great since I love to go fast and hard, but for slow or moderate sessions, it doesn’t hit the spot. I need something else, whether that’s reliable G-spot/A-spot stim or good texture. As much as I loved the Girthy for the couple of weeks where I used it exclusively, I was desperately craving a stronger curve with good G-spot stim by the end of that jaunt.
The base is somewhat difficult to hold in hand. It’s broad enough that I can stretch my palm and fingers across, but the base is not very strong otherwise due to the soft firmness and doesn’t provide any leverage without that full-hand support. (The insert needs to stay in for this to work; it’s the only actually sturdy part of the base.) For riding, it stays upright decently well even with the insert, and can easily be tied down thanks to the size of the base.
Speaking of the base, I don’t know what to think about the balls. I can squish them, but I’m not particularly into the fantasy of firmly squishing balls (which I kind of need to do to notice that they’re dual density), and they don’t do much for me outside of being visually appealing and holdable for leverage.
With my Silc Arts Vac-U-Lock handle, it’s so much easier to thrust and I can go much faster as long as I have enough lube. Doggystyle position is not too difficult. I find it easiest to use in a reclining position, albeit with the small issue of the balls sometimes getting in the way as they bump against whatever I’m sitting on. For best results, I use two hands on the handle, though it’s also possible to use one hand while keeping another free for external stimulation.
Oral Use
This dildo’s a bit of a stretch, so I can only use it briefly for oral. The firm core and plush outer skin shine here as well; I love the fantasy that the sturdiness provides, but the softness is easier and more pleasant than a firm dildo.
Lubes
b-Vibe h2o lube
I assumed the h2o lube would be a straightforward water-based lube that gets the job done, but it’s one of the least effective lubes I’ve tried. It’s very thin and slips right off the dildo like water, so I need to apply it by hand (which ends up with more lube on my hand than the dildo). My insides end up somewhat lubricated, but that doesn’t do nearly as much as if the lube stayed on the dildo itself. I end up feeling uncomfortable because there’s just not enough wetness to make for a smooth ride, no matter how much lube I add. (I tried this lube with multiple dildos, including some used anally, and found it lacking in all cases.)
Interestingly, it lubricates better when I add saliva, resulting in an experience much more like the water-based lubes I’m used to. But I’m not interested in spitting on a dildo every couple of minutes.
It has a chemical smell almost like alcohol. This might be the citric acid, which is a common lube ingredient, but I don’t normally smell it.
For use with toys, this lube isn’t for me. For skin-on-skin masturbation, it’s okay. I find most lubes are too slick, leaving me with no friction and the inability to get the pressure I need to get off, but this lube is minimally slick and easier to work with.
This lube doesn’t appear to be on the market. The closest match is b-Vibe natural intimate lubricant. The h2o lube includes sodium benzoate, which appears to be the only ingredient difference between that and the natural intimate lubricant. While I don’t have the natural intimate lubricant to compare, I would be concerned that it could be similarly disappointing.
Le Wand Coconut Love Oil
I’ve tried and loved oil-based lubes before, so I was really looking forward to Le Wand Coconut Love Oil, but I’m not impressed by this lube, either.
Coconut oil is solid at room temperature—the melting point is 76°F (24°C)—so I’m not surprised that it isn’t liquid, but it is very difficult to squeeze out of the tube at room temperature. Running the tube under hot water for a couple minutes is the only way I can get any of the lube to squeeze out. (Still not liquid.)
With previous oil-based lubes I’ve used, I only need a little bit to get going. This makes my toys look shiny, but I don’t get any slickness in use. I end up feeling all the uncomfortable rubbery drag of an unlubed dildo. Like the h2o lube, this is alright for skin-on-skin masturbation thanks to the minimal level of lubrication. It’s less effective than the h2o lube, but I like the moisturized feeling that I get after using it.
This lube is advertised as “yummy.” I’m not sure how to describe the flavor. Something along the lines of sipping perfume or taking a bite of potpourri. I don’t expect lube to taste good, but I would rather not taste this one again.
Overall
b-Vibe’s Slipskin Girthy is very well designed when it comes to the sculpted details, the dual density firmness, and the underside of the curve. It works very well when used with a Vac-U-Lock handle and is also great for riding. Being available in a range of sizes that includes larger sizes is a huge plus for people like me who prefer larger toys, considering the typically small size of mainstream toys.
It falls short in that the coronal ridge is too soft for me to feel well, the base can be awkward to hold by hand, and the shape doesn’t have much going for it. The companion design Slipskin Curvy boasts a curve, though I don’t have one to compare.
Is the Slipskin Girthy 8″ worth the $175 price tag? Maybe. It’s a steep price, but it’s hard to find other dual density dildos in this size, especially realistic ones with sliding skin. At 25% off ($131.25), it’s within the range of what I’d expect to pay for a silicone dildo with extra features, and I’d definitely say it’s worth it for anyone looking for a quality realistic dildo.
Both the b-Vibe h2o lube and Le Wand Coconut Love Oil fall short of my baseline expectations for lube. I ended up reaching for a more reliable lube each time I tried either of them because a generous drop of better lube did much more than a higher volume of either of the other two.
I would definitely recommend the Slipskin Girthy—especially at a discount—but I’d pass on the lubes.
