Review: Weredog Canine Packer

The Canine from Weredog is a packer with moving parts. It can take things to the next level in terms of personal gender expression with the experience of getting hard, especially for those with a furry fantasy.

Specs & Ordering

The Canine was part of the same order where I got Skylar, Gideon’s Butt, Sapphire, and Nile using a voucher for review toys. Details about the overall ordering process, along with information about Weredog in general, are in my Skylar review.

My Canine is medium size (the smallest available at this time), extra soft 00-20 firmness, in Walnut coloration, which features a dark red shaft and a base of two dark browns. The base is a sheath with balls and the removable shaft is smooth with a tapered tip. I ordered mine made-to-order and the colors are accurate to what I expected. The sheath is not quite as tacky or lint-hungry as the penetrables I received, but the shaft is noticeably tacky. The balls, while soft to touch, are relatively firm when squeezed thanks to their thickness.

Packers are most often used as a form of gender expression: A prosthetic to make one feel and look like they have a cock. Many trans men, along with others interested in packing, use packers or socks to create a bulge similar to what cis men may have. This can help with passing (appearing as a man to others) and self-image.

Personally, I don’t pack in public; I’m not interested in the hassle and I don’t feel like people are going to pay enough attention for me to care. I’m a lot more interested in packers in the bedroom, including feeling like I’m touching my own cock or using packers the same way as grinders. As such, my feedback is heavily oriented towards using this toy in the bedroom rather than daily wear.

Packing

I may not pack during the day, but I did give it a go to see how it fit.

For daily packing, with the shaft, it’s awkward, even if it’s barely pointing out. It definitely gives it a pointed profile. Without the shaft, it looks like a natural bulge. Jeans do a better job at making it look natural than thinner pants. I’m a little short and have an average build, and the size looks natural on me. Even though the sheath is hollow, it doesn’t feel like I have something hollow that’s getting squished down.

In the bedroom, I really like the look of it with the shaft. It looks like I have a boner and the visual is really nice for a furry fantasy. I love to have the tip sticking out of the top of my underwear and it’s easy enough to keep the packer in place while doing that. The visual and the action of touching my own bulge like this is really cool.

Playing

The Canine is my favorite toy for oral play.

I love the fantasy of giving a blowjob, but most of my toys are too big to do that comfortably. I am also really into the concept of getting hard, which is not so easy to simulate with static dildos, but which is completely possible in a sheath situation like this. Giving a blowjob to a partner who slowly gets hard from it? That gets me going.

The fairly small size comfortably fits in my mouth and the smoothness makes it easy to move. I can be moderately aggressive, but I cannot be too rough or suck too hard without risking the shaft coming unseated from the sheath. It’s a little tedious to move the shaft in and out without lube. Flavored lube could come in handy here. Or just lots of spit.

For non-oral play, I would recommend lube to help move the shaft within the sheath. Silicone moving against silicone makes for a lot of friction. It shouldn’t damage the toy not to use lube, but it won’t move smoothly.

Sitting and stroking the shaft doesn’t really do it for me. I can, but it’s small/short enough that it doesn’t appeal to me.

While I enjoy the novelty of the toy getting hard while inside of me vaginally, it’s too small and smooth for my tastes, even with the sheath inserted. Good for a bit of brief fun, but not for a full play session.

I would not recommend using The Canine anally since it does not have an anal-safe base and the shaft could easily come out.

Overall

I really like The Canine from Weredog. It’s excellent for oral, fills a furry fantasy when packing in the bedroom, and is one of the very few toys on the market that can simulate getting an erection.

I picked medium size knowing it would be more along the lines of a standard packer, so it met my expectations in that regard, but I would probably prefer large. Large would probably still be fun for oral and fit my size fantasy while packing, while extra large would probably work as a dildo.

The only change I would like to see is to make either the full toy available in soft firmness 00-30 or make the shaft available in variable firmnesses. Extra soft 00-20 may be great for packing during the day given its squishiness, but it’s not my favorite for a few reasons (including the lint factor), and 00-30 would still work for my purposes. Or if I could get one with the shaft available in 00-50, that would really work out well for me.
